“Clothing becomes its most beautiful when it carries a life, a history, a heart.”
My Story
My love for making began with my Nana — a sewer, embroiderer, and effortless dresser who always had a needle and thread in her hands. Watching her stitch as she told stories is one of my earliest memories, and those moments shaped how I see craft, beauty, and care.
At university, I created a project inspired by the textiles in my family: christening gowns, embroidered tablecloths, and handwork passed down through generations. Those pieces still influence my approach to design.
I’ve always been particular about clothes — even as a child, refusing outfits that didn’t feel right and dressing myself in combinations that made sense only to me. As a teenager, fashion magazines and scrapbooks became my world; when I couldn’t find what I imagined, I started making it.
After moving to New Zealand, I began sewing my own garments and eventually designing my own patterns. That creative freedom led me to study Fashion Design at Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design in Auckland, where I graduated top of my class with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
Inspiration
Nature is at the heart of everything I create — its quiet details, changing seasons, and the gentle beauty in things that are slightly worn or imperfect. Creating brings balance to my life, and I love every stage, from the first spark of an idea to the final hand-finished detail.
I make bespoke garments and accessories, hand-dyed silk scarves coloured with organic dyes, and carefully reworked vintage pieces. My dyeing practice often reminds me of my Nana’s scarf collection — each one a little treasure in her wardrobe.
When I’m not in the studio, I’m in the garden growing old-fashioned roses or tending to plants and fruit — another slow, grounding form of making.
Today
Now based in the Bay of Islands, I create pieces that celebrate craftsmanship, individuality, and the enduring beauty of handmade work. Everything I make is shaped by memory, nature, and a deep appreciation for things created with care.
